A Brief History
Mokito SpA was founded in 1931 in Milan by Daniele De Bei with the trading name ICAM (Importazione Caffè Arabo Mokito SpA) to cater primarily for the regional capital of Lombardy. With the advent of the espresso machine in the years after the Second World War, Mokito SpA continued to supply premium coffee blends to bars and restaurants to allow them to offer their customers a superior quality espresso coffee.
Day in day out you can try this superlative quality, consolidated in over seventy years of business spanning four generations, for yourself.
The guarantee of quality represented by the Mokito brand is the result of constant dedication and an innovative use of technology in keeping with tradition.
In 1974 Mokito SpA acquired Moka Reale srl, preserving the identity of the company founded in 1933 as a second brand in its product line.
In 1996 Mokito SpA joined forces with two other roasteries with similarly longstanding traditions as the founding partners of Bomocaf SpA. Through this venture, the three partners united their extensive experience in a new and technologically advanced industrial concern.
After one of the three partners decided to withdraw as a stakeholder, in addition to putting its experience and the technology of the Binasco plant to work to produce Mokito products, Bomocaf SpA now also roasts and packages coffee for many coffee producers for whom offering superior quality blends is a core value.
Another significant milestone in the history of Mokito SpA was the incorporation of Melcaffè SpA in 2008. With the acquisition of Milan’s historic Melcaffè roastery, which dates back to the 1950s, Mokito SpA further strengthened its operations in the Lombardy region. As it did with the Moka Reale brand in 1974, Mokito chose to preserve the Melcaffè name and include its blends within its product line. |
